STD Testing

An STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease), is an infection that has been transmitted through sexual contact and is producing symptoms. However, the vast majority of those who have contracted an infection from sexual activity do not show any physical signs or symptoms. This means that it is possible to become infected from someone who appears perfectly healthy. They may not even know that they have an infection, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea. When an individual has a sexual infection but does not show any symptoms, they have what is referred to as an STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection). They are equally at risk of long-term damage to their reproductive systems as those who do experience symptoms. You possibly need a STD or STI test to know if you are infected for sure.

An individual does not have to have symptoms to spread an STI. This means that anyone with an STI can spread the infection without even knowing that they have one. STIs can be spread through all forms of sexual contact. Using a condom (even perfectly) does not eliminate your risk of contracting an STI, and some infections may even be spread without sexual contact.

Not all STIs can be cured. In fact, the most common sexually transmitted infection in the U.S. today has no cure. Some infections are life-long and the most that can be done to treat them is to manage the symptoms.

Woman to Woman wants to empower you to make the best sexual choices for your health. We currently offer STD testing and STI testing including screening for chlamydia and gonorrhea, two of the most common STIs in the U.S. We also provide confidential consultations with a medical professional, and referrals when your need extends beyond the scope of our services.
